From the humble beginnings of a two-person outfit in a front room in Lancashire to a staff of 60 working from a 20,000 square foot warehouse. There is a customer care team providing pre- and post-purchase support as well as a shiny, new website for customers to input their precise requirements.
Started <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-pc-expert-fits-homes-all-over-europe-with-custom-computers">in 2009</a> by a husband and wife team, Jonathan and Deborah Carter, selling computer components on eBay from their living room. Jon started to build and advertise gaming PCs too and Fierce PC went on to sell full computer systems. The company now concentrates on providing gamers with exactly the kind of hardware they need with a specialist PC building team creating custom orders to the specifications requested.
By the looks of things, demand is set to continue to grow. Around the world, the time spent video gaming during the start of the Covid-19 pandemic <a href="https://www.statista.com/topics/8016/covid-19-impact-on-the-gaming-industry-worldwide/#topicHeader__wrapper">increased by 39%</a>. There are now just over <a href="https://www.extremetech.com/gaming/314009-3-billion-people-worldwide-are-gamers-and-nearly-half-play-on-pcs">3 billion gamers</a> around the world, and 48% of all gaming takes place on PCs. 
Bradley Haworth, Marketing Manager for Fierce PC said: “Over the last couple of years, we have seen a massive increase in demand within the PC gaming market. We have seen sales increase year-on-year across the channel as more gamers look to invest in their first gaming PC, as well as existing gamers upgrading to the latest hardware.”
Bradley reckons this surge in popularity is down to high-performing, top-of-the-line hardware – like the 12th Gen Intel Core processors – coming onto the market alongside incredible gaming titles.
While he concedes that the latest releases of the XBOX and PlayStation consoles have had impressive sales, he said it is hard to ignore the quality of the products brands such as NVIDIA and Intel are bringing to the PC market, saying: “We still believe for high-end and a truly top tier gaming experience, PC gaming is the best choice.”
Gamers seem to agree, stating on <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/truegaming/comments/i62np3/new_consoles_vs_pc_for_the_average_gamer/">social media</a> that there are advantages in PC gaming for the average gamers, as well as for the Twitch streamers and professional esports players. PC gaming tends to offer a better aesthetic and visual experience, it is easier to customise the input, there is a larger library of games often at more economical prices.
However, Fierce has clearly found its niche among more dedicated and discerning PC gamers. From August 2018 until recently, the company had its own esports organisation - Fierce Esports - that had rosters in CS:GO, Rainbow Siege Six, COD and other leading titles.
In May 2021, Fierce signalled its re-entry onto the global esports stage with its partnership with Red Bull Racing Esports, which Bradley thinks has one of the best teams in the world when it comes to sim racing, and shares Fierce’s values and ambitions.
“Red Bull are racing at the highest level, using kit that offers the best possible performance. Our gaming PCs are designed and manufactured with performance at the forefront. Therefore, it made perfect sense for this partnership to happen,” he said.
Fierce PC and Red Bull co-designed the PCs that the Red Bull Racing Esports drivers play on. The process began with a discussion with the Red Bull team manager who explained the importance of in-game performance in high level competition. Following that, the Fierce PC builders put together a PC that they felt would be optimal for the titles the Red Bull team would be running on. The specifications for those PCs include the Intel Core i9-10850k, a high-performing CPU installed to the latest ASUS Z590 motherboard with PCIe Gen 4 compatibility. This meant the Fierce PC builders could include 4th Gen NVMe SSD storage inside the systems too.
Being partnered with Intel has given Fierce access to its boundary-pushing processors that are ideal for gaming. This in turn has allowed Fierce to offer the Red Bull Racing Esports team the best possible products to power their competitive gaming systems.
